The well-known sports like field hockey, basketball, boxing, tennis and soccer are also popular and widely practiced on Curaçao. Water sports is something we are not or hardly used to in the Netherlands and for which you have all the necessities on the island: wind, clear water and sun! You can go diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, wakeboarding, water skiing, boating, banana boating, windsurfing and kite surfing on the island.
The beautiful weather and the blue clear, warm sea makes it ideal to participate in a water sport. By taking part in a sport you are guaranteed to have a fun day and it is a pleasant change from the daily beach life.
At the Spanish Water there are hundreds of sailing boats and the many bays, such as the Piscadera Bay, are an ideal place for water sports. The most famous water sports locations are at Cabana beach and Papagayo beach; these are also open 7 days a week. You can enjoy the beautiful underwater life on Curaçao by diving or snorkeling; if you want some more action then kite surfing is highly recommended.
